  • Why should I use Pet Pals rather than board my pet?

    The ride to and from the boarding facility is a hassle for you. Additionally, pick up and drop off times are inconvenient for your travel plans and/or work schedule. Your pet kid routine should be as consistent as possible and having Pet Pals come to your home is the next best thing to having you there.

  • Why Pet Pals?

    Honesty and integrity are the core values of everything we say and do.

  • What type of animals does Pet Pals sit?

    We care for dogs, cats, cats, birds, horses, rabbits, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, chickens, turtles, frogs, goats, and more. Please call to inquire even if your animal/pet is not listed. Sorry snakes and spiders are not accepted with Pet Pals.

  • What do I do if I’m ready to book Pet Pals?

    Call our office at (605)999-1355, email mail us at info@hirepetpals.com, or use the contact us section.

  • Are there any extra charges for holiday care?

    There are no extra charges for regular service during the holidays or any other times. Last minute reservations may have an additional fee. We normally require 24 hour notice to book service and a two week notice for major holidays to avoid a late booking fee.

  • What happens if my pet becomes sick or injured?

    Pet Pals is committed to providing the highest quality of care to your pet(s). Should they become sick or injured we will follow the procedures listed on our emergency page.

  • Does my dog need to be on a leash if trained?

    We will always keep your pet(s) on a leash while in our care outside of your home or yard to ensure we have control over any unforeseen problems that may arise. Although there is also a leash law in many areas, our ultimate concern is for your pet kid(s) safety.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

    A 24 hour notice for all non-holiday cancellations is required to prevent a 100% refund.  Additionally, there is no refund for services that are cancelled same day.  The remainder of the visits beyond the one canceled will be held as credit. If you return home early without notifying us you will be charged for any attempted visits. No refunds will be given on holiday services.


  • Will my pet be walked in extreme temperatures or weather?

    If road and walking conditions become dangerous we will do all we can to ensure your pet(s) get out for a potty break and then resume regular walking schedules once the severe weather has passed.


  • Will you pick up after our pet(s)?

    Your pet will be picked up after when on their walk and in the yard. We will also clean up after them (in most cases) if they get sick in your home.


  • Will your sitter have their own supplies to clean up after my pet(s)?

    We will use the cleaning supplies, including bags for picking up or scooping waste, paper towels, carpet cleaner, etc. that you provide and already use for your pet. Please let us know any specific details for anything that will require special care, such as delicate or expensive carpets and rugs.


  • What about keys?

    Two (2) working keys should be provided during the initial visit. Please test new keys to ensure they work properly. Most clients have us keep their keys on file and if you live in a gated community, then we will also require a gate code or an access device.   • Can you give my pet medications?

    We can administer most pills, injections, liquids, and topical medications to most pets.


  • How and when is payment received?

    Cash or check payment is due at or prior to the start of services. Our clients with regularly scheduled services may also pay weekly or monthly.


  • Can I contact my Pet Pal (your pet sitter) directly?

    Yes, you will be provided with their cell phone number and email address. Additionally, Pet Pals will provide updates with photos of your pet kid.


  • What if I am unsatisfied with my sitter or my service?

    We encourage you to contact us if you are not satisfied in any way. We will promptly address any issues and do our best to rectify whatever problem you may have. We are committed to living up to your expectations, so please contact us immediately if that hasn't happened.


  • Do you have a referral program?

    ABSOLUTELY! Our best advertising is a happy client. Refer Pet Pals to a friend, family member, or co-worker, and we will reward you with one free regular visit.
