Top Benefits of In-Home Pet Care

There is no place like home!

If you’re a pet parent, you know how stressful it can be to leave your beloved dog or cat at a boarding kennel while you go on vacation. Kennels can be noisy, they’re full of strange smells and they may not have the creature comforts your pet enjoys at home. Some facilities do try to make it like home, there is no place like home!

Fortunately, this isn’t the only option! For many pet parents, in-home care from a trusted locally owned and operated Professional Pet Sitting company can be a great alternative to traditional boarding arrangements when you have to leave town or long work days.
Benefits of having a professional take care of your pet in your own home include the following:

Familiar Surroundings
Even if the kennel workers are kind and friendly, spending several days in a strange environment is incredibly stressful for anxious dogs (and for virtually all cats!). These pets are often much happier if they can stay in their own homes. Over the 13 years of professionally pet sitting we have heard many times over, “my dog couldn’t go anymore when we got home, thoroughly exhausted” What we question is, is your dog exhausted from anxiety?

Flexibility

Many professional pet sitters have flexible schedules, and can work around any specific needs or requests you might have for your pet’s care. Here at Pet Pals we do and you choose how many times a day you want the sitter to stop by, and how long you want the visits to last. Some sitters will even stay overnight so your dog or cat has someone to cuddle up with in bed!

Personalized Attention

A Pet Pals Professional Pet Sitter spends more one-on-one time with your dog or cat than the staff at a busy boarding kennel. Many pets are lonely and bored while their human families are away. Why not take advantage of a sitter who can cuddle with your kitty on the couch, play brain games, enrichment games, stroll around the neighborhood, playing fetch with your dog in the backyard, and sign them a song good night?!

Other Services

Often, a Pet Pals Professional Pet Sitter can also take care of other minor tasks around the house such as watering plants, bringing in the mail and feeding the goldfish. This can be a great way to get more bang for your buck, rather than paying to board your pets and hiring (or relying on a neighbor to remember) a separate person to house-sit.
The next time you have to leave town for a few days, consider all the available options for pet care while you’re gone. To find a qualified sitter call Pet Pals!!!

Cats are making a name for themselves. These hot-shot superstars in funny cat videos, memes, reels, and TikTok videos. So why not give them a special month of glory where we can celebrate their stubbornness, independence, and selective self-sustainable being. February is for the cats, and more specifically it's for their health, it is called National Cat Health Month." Pet Pals encourages every cat parent to spend the month with extra focus on their cat's physical and emotional well-being, and research signs of unhealthy behavior or illness. Pet Pals has compiled 3 tips to help ensure your furry cat friend stays in tip-top shape. 1. Litter boxes should be in a well-lit, quiet, and ventilated room of the house that's easily accessible to your kitty. It should not be in a dark, noisy place because he may choose not to use it. You should also clean it once a day. It's a good way to notice changes that may be a sign of health issues. 2. Even though cats spend approximately five hours a day grooming themselves, they still need our help to stay happy and healthy. Depending on the length of your kitty's hair, you'll want to make brushing part of your weekly or daily routine. 3. Yes. Feline pet parents also need to get their kitties used to nail trims and teeth cleanings. Slowly get them used to have their paws and nails touched. Do the same with their teeth and gums. An excellent way to start with dental health is by having them taste kitty toothpaste. Extend ‘agape’ love to your kitty friend. As Albert Schweitzer once said, “There are two means of refuge from the misery of life – music and cats.” Pet Pals - Pet care, dog walking, and dog mentor experts in the Sioux Empire committed to making people and pets' lives easier, healthier, and happier. Your Pet Will Thank You! Happy National Cat Health Month! Brag about you cat in the comments, pictures and/or video encouraged!
